Halyps Building Materials S.A., Cement Activity, has been certified to EN 16001: 2009 the European energy management system standard by TUV Austria. Halyps Cement is the first plant in the Group, and one of the very few in the whole cement industry worldwide, to achieve this certification.

Energy is a vital and valuable resource. Halyps Cement recognizes the need for a strong contribution to energy saving and conservation of energy sources, most particularly fossil fuels, that also means cost savings.

The overall aim of this European EN 16001 standard is to help organizations establish the systems and processes necessary to improve energy efficiency. This should lead to reductions in cost and greenhouse gas emissions through systematic management of energy.

Our commitment concerns operational and strategic options, priorities of employees as well as our investment plan. It is a commitment fully aligned with the strategy of Italcementi Group but also with the Quality and Sustainable Development Policies of the company.

A prerequisite for any such action is the conformance with the Greek and European Legislation relative to energy use, as well as with all other regulations and local or sectoral agreements to which the company or the Group is committed .
